Rotary Magnetic Separator – SMR

The SMR Rotary Magnetic Separator by Sangati Berga is designed for the removal of ferromagnetic impurities present in large streams of granular or powdery products and is usefully applied to product receptions in grain processing plants. It comes in 6 different sizes, thus ensuring the right capacity for each application.

Its operation is performed by a rotating drum that has inside it a stationary permanent magnet. When entering the separator, the product flow is constrained by the inlet valve which, depending on the external counterweights, distributes the product over the entire width of the drum, from reduced streams up to the maximum model capacity.

The product, still with impurities flows over the drum surface, where the ferromagnetic impurities are retained on the rotating drum surface by the action of the stationary magnet magnetic field, while the product flows through the product outlet. Fins on the surface of the drum drive the ferromagnetic impurities in the same rotation sense of the drum until they move away from the magnet magnetic field, detaching from the drum and falling through the impurities outlet. Large acrylic spyglass allows inspection of the product flow and impurities output.

Made in austenitic stainless steel, the SMR Rotary Magnetic Separator has simple geometry, providing ease of cleaning and low maintenance cost. Permanent magnets maintain the value of their magnetic field and separation efficiency unchanged throughout the life of the equipment.
